PGS MultiClient GeoStreamer 3D data, basin modeling and PGS Access™ products support the exploration of the Namibe Basin for the Angola offshore license round.

ANGP, the newly formed national oil and gas agency of Angola, recently announced a seven-year program of license rounds for onshore and offshore blocks. They open with Angola Namibe License Round on 3 October 2019.

Specific blocks and basins will be assigned to each license rounds. According to Presidential Decree 52/19, which defines the general strategy for the allocation of petroleum concessions, the blocks will be awarded by public tender, restricted public tender, and direct negotiation.

PGS is attending the official program of international roadshows to promote the Angola Namibe License Round. Two outstanding dates remain:

  • London - Tuesday 17 September 2019
  • Dubai - Monday 23 September 2019

2019 License Round Blocks

In 2019, Angola will offer by public tender blocks 10, 11, 12, 13, 27, 28, 29, 41 and 43 of the Namibe Basin. Blocks 30, 44, 45, 46 and 47 will be awarded by the process of direct negotiation that is expected to be concluded in 2019.

The PGS MultiClient data library provides excellent coverage of the area on offer. Namibe Basin Blocks 27, 28 and 29 have 3D GeoStreamer coverage, and all other blocks included in the round are covered by 2D GeoStreamer data.

Additional geoscience studies are available for companies licensing these seismic datasets, to fast track geological understanding and derisk petroleum systems and plays ahead of bid applications. This includes the Namibe Basin Regional Source Rock Characterization and Petroleum Systems Modelling Study, produced by PGS and IGI Ltd

PGS Access facilitates derisking of the basins of Angola, with a comparison of the various tectonic architecture, deposition systems, and basin models within a harmonized stratigraphic framework. The product includes a regional 2D database together with geoscience studies within a desktop application.
