Although seismic processing and imaging workflows do not typically include error bars or attempt to quantify uncertainty, 4D processing flows are an exception. After reviewing the many sources of error in the acquisition and processing of 4D data, Andrew considers the uncertainty inherent in rock physics and quantitative interpretation (QI) workflows. A Bayesian workflow to invert several 4D datasets simultaneously is shown, that yields statistical changes in various reservoir properties due to depletion effects, including estimates of uncertainty.
Viewers should be familiar with the seismic method and have an interest in the monitoring of reservoir production using seismic data. Basic knowledge of seismic processing and the interpretation of seismic data is recommended.
